Yesterday and today I had big training plans .. I’d hoped to get back up to the Gog Magog Hills as I have the 3 peaks in September to train for … My body on the other hand had different ideas ✋
So I’ve had to take a step back + rather than force myself to Workout (old me) I’m currently listening to this bod + taking a couple of days off 💆
There is a difference between being mentally tough + being critical of yourself 🙏
Remember this: 👉👉👉👉
Mental Toughness does NOT mean berating yourself if you need to rest. It doesn’t mean I have to tell myself I’m a failure if I need to take a break to focus on stretching + relaxing. It doesn’t mean I have to beat myself up if I need to modify my training plan for the week due to tiredness/ TOM / out of our control scenarios.
It DOES mean being your BEST SELF + listening to that bod of yours if it speaks to u 👭🙋🏼
It DOES mean being strong enough to listen if your body is showing signs of of distress.
It DOES mean showing your body and mind the same respect your show your friends + children or pets 🐯
There is a difference between pushing yourself too hard and ignoring your body. This is something I am not willing to do again if I can help it 🙌🙌
Your lovely able wonderful body does NOT care about your desires to lose weight, lose that tum or bum, run just that tiny bit faster 🏃🏼🏃🏼
Your body will not perform at its best if it is not well nourished, recharged, rested, balanced or hydrated. In fact it will be down right stubborn as it tries everything it can to PROTECT you! And usually that means we hold onto to fat and feel tired if we’re dehydrated. The body is always ALWAYS trying to find BALANCE!
Exercise should never become another source of stress or anxiety in our daily routine (which can often be highly stressful anyway) it should be something that brings you joy/ gives you energy/ keeps you focused.
Sometimes all you may need is a bath, a good book and some sleep. Or a healthy meal with a good friend who you can chat and laugh with for hours. Or maybe even a stretch and foam roll routine just to ease away any knots or tension 💗💗
This is all part of what makes this a LIFESTYLE change rather than a quick fix.
Hard work is just one piece of the equation for a happy and healthy life ~ Make sure it isn’t the only piece ~ and above all be gentle with yourself !
